{"id":6851,"date":"2016-08-04T09:37:27","date_gmt":"2016-08-04T14:37:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.highclouder.ninja\/?p=6851"},"modified":"2024-05-21T14:49:54","modified_gmt":"2024-05-21T14:49:54","slug":"azure-vpn-express-route-traffic-encrypted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.highclouder.com\/?p=6851","title":{"rendered":"Azure VPN or Express Route: Is Traffic Encrypted?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Time to time, during our Microsoft Cloud projects, we get pretty\u00a0much the same question: &#8220;Do Azure VPN or ExpressRoute provide traffic encryption?&#8221; So, here is an explanation :)&#8230;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Azure VPN<\/strong> tunnels, for <strong>Site-to-Site<\/strong> connectivity, are by design (and yes, it&#8217;s by default) encrypted using <strong>IPSEC<\/strong>. Encryption is also provided for <strong>Point-to-Site<\/strong>\u00a0using \u00a0Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol (SSTP).<\/p>\n<p><strong>ExpressRoute<\/strong> is an Azure service that lets us create private connections between Microsoft datacenters and infrastructure that\u2019s on our premises or in a colocation facility.
